Meet the candidates
Candidates from several political parties will be in the Sound and Vision room at the Living Room of the City on
Thursday at 12 noon. They will be answering questions put to them as a result of local community engagement.
The ‘What I want to know before I vote’ campaign involved erecting large chalk boards in Palmerston North communities
where the public were encouraged to write down any questions they would like addressed.
Neil Miller, head of strategy and policy says the Council wants to reach out to the diverse communities that make up our
City.
“One way to activate citizens and increase voter participation in local and national elections is to listen to what they
have to say. It was great to hear people from all walks of life talk about what matters to them,” Neil said.
“The boards provided an opportunity for the community to write their thoughts and questions down. We will in turn, put
these to the politicians on Thursday.”
