Naenae Girl in Ambulance styled Go Kart helps Wellington Free Ambulance Annual Appeal
Six year old Olivia
Wallace from Naenae will help Wellington Free Ambulance with
their annual appeal collection next week in a specially
designed go kart.
The kart, built by family friend Steve Hockley of Twin Lakes Industries, is being decorated by Olivia in the style of a Wellington Free ambulance. Olivia will also be dressed in a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic style uniform.
Olivia goes to Rata Street School in Naenae and both her mother and her aunt work for the emergency organisation.
“Olivia is a passionate supporter of Wellington Free Ambulance and last year at the age of five, she helped out with the annual street appeal dressed as a paramedic. This year she came up with the idea of a go kart in the style of an ambulance and will sit in it to help collect money for Wellington Free Ambulance on September 12,” says her aunt Michelle Hawthorne, Wellington Free Ambulance’s Quality Improvement Leader.
Olivia plans to auction the ambulance off and give the money raised to Wellington Free Ambulance. “She knows we have to raise money to keep our service free and wants to do her bit,” Michelle Hawthorne says.
Wellington Free Ambulance is holding its annual appeal on Friday September 12 to Sunday 14. A special street parade will kick the campaign off on Friday.
The parade begins at Courtenay Place at midday and ends near Parliament about 40 minutes later. Olivia and her ambulance go-kart will travel alongside the parade.
Wellington Free Ambulance is raising vital funds for its service in Wellington, Kapiti and the Wairarapa, and people will be out on the streets with buckets across the region on Friday, Saturday and Sunday collecting donations.
