Suspicious package - Hawera Police Station
Saturday, 6 September 2014 - 10:41am
The Police Station in Princes Street Hawera is currently closed with cordons in place after a suspicious package was found outside the front door.
A patrol returning to the station at about 8.30am this morning noticed the black briefcase sized metal box pushed up against the front door in the outside foyer area.
A military explosive ordnance disposal team has been requested and is currently enroute to the location. It is anticipated that they will examine the package in an attempt to establish the contents.
Princes Street between Wellington and Nelson Streets is closed off.
