KEY AREAS - changing traffic management
Sumner drivers heading to the city Saturday morning: Ferry Road detour
Ferry Road will be one way (towards Sumner) for up to six hours Saturday 30 August, 6 am to midday, Rutherford St/ Palinurus Road to the Dyers/ Tunnel Road roundabout. Use Linwood Ave or the detour will be via Dyers
Road and then Palinurus Road, back onto Ferry Road.
Main Road Redcliffs, reopening Friday afternoon, 29 August
Sumner/ Redcliffs drivers will be back on the Main Road through Redcliffs from this afternoon, 29 August. The newly
installed pressure pipe has been tested and is fully operational. Work is now starting on replacing the gravity pipe in
McCormacks Bay Road.
Soleares Ave, Mt Pleasant, reopening, McCormacks Bay Road one-way
Soleares Ave, Mt Pleasant is reopening to traffic Monday, 1 September. As McCormacks Bay Road is one way, eastbound/ towards Redcliffs, drivers using Soleares Ave to leave Mt Pleasant will
have to go around McCormacks Bay Road to Redcliffs and the causeway. Drivers coming onto the hill via Soleares Ave can
turn off Main Road onto McCormacks Bay Road. Fulton Hogan is aiming to reopen the first part of McCormacks Bay Road, near the farmers market/ community centre, to
two-way traffic in the New Year.
Mt Pleasant Road closed above Seamount Terrace
Mt Pleasant retaining wall work will begin the week of 1 September. This will close that road to traffic above Seamount Terrace. It is currently one-lane around the collapsed wall.
Antigua and St Asaph St intersection (near Hagley Park/ Christchurch Hospital)
Reduced lanes leading into and at this intersection on both these streets (location of new Metro Sports Facility). No
left turn off St Asaph into Antigua St heading west.
St Asaph St, coming from Hagley Park, closed at intersection.
(From 8 September: Antigua St will be closed at the intersection half way down to Halkett St.)
Moorhouse Ave/ central city - delays
Moorhouse Ave is currently reduced to two lanes eastbound Antigua to Montreal St and also on the westbound side between
Durham and Antigua St. Footpath closed also. Some delays back to the overbridge at peak hours. Take care turning from
Durham St into Moorhouse on both sides of intersection.
Lyttelton Tunnel – no cars Sunday morning 31 August, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
Be prepared to park and walk, scoot, cycle or skateboard through the tunnel this Sunday morning. NZTA is celebrating the
road tunnel’s 50 year birthday from 1964, the new tunnel control building is complete and SCIRT’s Horotane overpass twin

Durham St North – delays peak periods
As well as work south of Bealey Ave on manholes, there is a new week of work south of Chester St West/ outside the Court
House from 1 September.
Manchester St – southbound Salisbury to Gloucester
The northbound closure on Manchester St is extending over the river to Salisbury St for roading work to the end of
November.
Manchester St - Moorhouse to Dundas reduced lanes
If you are turning into Manchester St from Moorhouse Avenue, be aware there are reduced lanes. Best access into Pak ‘n
Save is off Moorhouse Ave or Dundas St.
Colombo St and Armagh St – Victoria Square, access New Regent St/ Cathedral Junction
If you are coming into New Regent St or Cathedral Junction (which runs from Gloucester St through to Worcester St, along the tram tracks), use Manchester St.
• Colombo St at Armagh (Victoria Square) is closed to all traffic except drivers going east on Armagh St who can turn
left/ north into Colombo.
Hereford St, from the river/ Oxford Tce to Colombo St
Hereford St will, be one-way, eastbound, for two more weeks past the Ibis Hotel as lateral wastewater pipes are
replaced.
St Asaph Street between Madras/ CPIT corner and Colombo St
St Asaph St has reduced lanes through this block.
Kilmore St
Kilmore St has lane closures between Madras and Colombo Streets for road reconstruction and storm water repairs, up
until December.
Peterborough St
The road will be closed to through traffic between Madras and Colombo St with full access for residents and businesses. For businesses, there is one-way eastbound traffic flow, enter from Manchester St.
Madras Street (one-way north)
Madras Street is reduced to one lane in more than one place between Moorhouse and Bealey Ave. Expect delays.
Barbadoes St (one-way south)
Barbadoes St has lane closures for final road reconstruction from south of Bealey Ave/ Melrose St to the river. There is
also a lane drop in the block between Cashel and Lichfield Streets.
OUTSIDE THE FOUR AVES
Aldwins Road, near Linwood College, changing traffic management, next two weeks
Traffic management has changed at the Edmond St intersection where there is a turning bay and SCIRT work in Edmond St.
Aldwins Road is reduced to one lane southbound and the turning bay opposite Edmond St will be closed for a week from
Wednesday, 27 August.In coming days, the work site will switch to the other side of the road and back again, so watch out for changes.
North Avon Road, Richmond, road closed
North Avon Road is closed to traffic between North Parade and Petrie St for about two weeks.
Keyes Road/ Bowhill Road, North New Brighton, intersection closed another week
This intersection is closed for another week while the roundabout is reconstructed. Drivers can take Marine Parade or
Bower Avenue instead of Keyes Road. The dairy on Bowhill Road and the Frame n Copy shop on Keyes Road are open.
Worcester St, between Woodham Road and Dacre St, Linwood
This part of Worcester St is closed to traffic for three more weeks. Detours are in place.
Aranui/ Wainoni update – switched traffic direction coming on Breezes Road
• Shortland St, between Wainoni and Pages Roads, is one-way east ie towards Pages.
• Breezes Road is switching direction to northbound from Wednesday, 3 September between Pages and Rowses Roads.
• Fletcher’s work from Rowses Road to Cuthberts Road and back towards Dyers Road will have traffic lights installed in
two stages to enable two-way traffic.
Bromley – Maces Road
Maces Road is southbound only from St Johns St to Woburn St for another week.

Seamount Terrace, Mt Pleasant
Seamount Terrace, which has been getting a rebuilt retaining wall, is about to reopen at the Rangatira Terrace end.
