Results in for Shirley–Papanui by-election
Progress results show Jo Byrne is the highest-polling candidate in the Shirley–Papanui Community Board by-election.
So far, 11,410 votes have been received. The progress results show:
• Jo Byrne (Independent), 5398 votes
• Emma Rawson (Independent), 3951 votes
• Lynda Goodrick (Independent), 2061 votes
Each of Christchurch’s eight Community Boards comprises five directly-elected members, along with their ward’s elected Councillors, who represent and act as an advocate for the interests of their community.
Voting closed at noon today (Friday 29 August). The progress result does not include special votes and voting papers returned today before voting closed. With at least 178 ordinary votes plus special votes still to process, it is hoped that the final declaration of results will take place early in the week commencing Monday 1 September.
