Man faces charges following armed incidents in Kihikihi and Hamilton
Waikato Police investigating armed incidents in Hamilton and Kihikihi over recent days have charged a man in relation to these events.
Area Manager Investigations, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead, said a 35-year-old man released from hospital today appeared in the Hamilton District Court on a variety of charges.
"Those charges include using a firearm against a law enforcement officer and aggravated robbery in relation to events in Kihikihi on Sunday and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, reckless driving, using a firearm against a law enforcement officer and assault with intent to rob charges in relation to events in Hamilton on Monday.
"In addition the man also appeared in relation to warrants issued for his arrest for offending in May and June which included aggravated robbery, burglary, unlawful taking of motor vehicles and possession of equipment for the manufacture of methamphetamine charges."
Mr Whitehead said the officer injured in the arrest of the alleged offender was released from hospital on Monday and Police were looking at the most appropriate form of recognition for both him and his two colleagues involved in Monday's incident.
