First Community Read for Christchurch
Join others and bury your nose in a book this month with the first Community Read hosted by Christchurch City Council
libraries.
Community Read encourages people to read a common book then come together to discuss it. This year’s novel of choice is The 10pm Question by award-winning Kiwi author Kate De Goldi.
Centred on themes of anxiety, emotional wellness and family, The 10pm Question won the young adult section in the 2009 New Zealand Post Book Awards.
The Community Read will culminate on Friday 22 August with two free events at South Library, 66 Colombo Street.
Book Chat, Tea and Tales
Friday 22 August, 11am – 12pm
Author Kate De Goldi will read from and give insight into her award-winning novel.
What is your 10PM question?
Friday 22 August, 7.30pm – 9pm
Mayor Lianne Dalziel will open this evening event before the Christchurch Court Jesters entertain the crowd with a
theatrical improvisation of the audience questions on the book. Kate De Goldi will then wrap-up the night by discussing
her novel before taking further questions.
