Press Release for immediate publication:
Boulevard Services is hosting a black tie extravaganza featuring Peter Urlich and Stolen Records for Diabetes Hawkes
Bay.
Boulevard Services is once again putting something back into their community by backing a fund raising event in
association with Shed 2 for another local charity. This year they are hosting a black tie affair featuring Peter Urlich
and Stolen Records as the entertainment with a theme called Winter Wonderland on the evening of the 15th August 2014.
Tickets are $120.00 for which you get the chance to put on your glad rags, enjoy the continuous array of Canapés plus
four free drinks, then dance the night away and be merry whilst knowing you are also making a difference. This night of
revelry will assist a local organisation to effect some changes for the better in your local Community.
Boulevard Services and Shed 2 have decided that this year’s recipient of the fundraising extravaganza is to be Diabetes
Hawkes Bay Inc.
This Organisation has been operating for forty years often on a shoestring budget whilst endeavouring to provide
prevention education to the general populace on the silent ills of this disease and how to combat it.
Membership to the Organisation costs $30.00 per annum which gives you access to library resources, nutritional advice
and healthy meals preparation tuition, information on foot care and retinal screening services to name just a few. It is
hoped that the in the future counseling will be available for those suffering depression etc.
As many people are aware Type 2 Diabetes is one of the largest growing diseases in New Zealand and for many sufferers it
is often the precursor to other disorders from depression through to obesity and even Heart disease. All of these are
treatable if diagnosed early and steps are taken by the entire family not just the person with the disease to attempt to
effect changes to their eating, exercise and medicinal regimes.
The facts show that if there is a history of Diabetes in a family it is highly likely that others will run the risk of
contracting the disease if they fail making those changes previously mentioned. The onset of Diabetes type 2 can in many
cases be slowed if not avoided by the implementation of the first two steps mentioned.
Sufferers of type 1 however don’t have this luxury, however better management of the condition is achieved when all
these factors are adhered too.
Further information for Diabetes services is available by contacting Diabetes Hawkes Bay (06) 845.3912
The Organisation also runs talks in conjunction with Heart Foundation and Sport Hawkes Bay for groups and business
entities and their staff.
Tickets for this event are available through Shed 2 by contacting
dennis@shed2.co.nz.
We look forward to seeing you on the night
