Key hospital/port link closed this weekend
The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers that a key motorway link in Grafton Gully providing access to Auckland Hospital and the Port will be closed this Sunday and Monday night (10 & 11 August).
The Wellesley Street East off-ramp from the northbound lanes on the Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) will be closed from 9pm until 5am the following day for work associated with the construction of the Grafton Gully cycleway.
A detour will be in place for both Port and Hospital traffic, which will be diverted onto the Symonds Street off-ramp.
If bad weather prevents the planned closures, next Tuesday night (12 August) will be used as an alternative.
During the day, the Wellesley Street East off-ramp will be restricted to one lane.
The closures and lane restrictions apply only to traffic using the off-ramp from the Southern Motorway. Traffic using Grafton Gully from the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) is not affected. ENDS
