Voting opens for Shirley-Papanui Community Board
Voters living in the Shirley-Papanui ward should
keep an eye on their mailboxes with by-election voting
papers being sent out from today.
Three candidates – Jo Byrne, Lynda Goodrick and Emma Rawson – are running for the vacant position on the Shirley-Papanui Community Board.
Full candidate statements are available at www.ccc.govt.nz/elections.
Electoral Officer Clare Sullivan is encouraging all enrolled voters to read the profiles and have their say in the by-election.
“Over the next week enrolled voters in the Shirley-Papanui Community Board will receive their voting papers in the post. Community Boards are an integral part of local government so it’s important residents select their preferred candidate and return their vote in the Freepost envelope provided by midday on Friday 29 August.”
Preliminary results will be declared that afternoon with the final result confirmed early the following week.
Special voting facilities for people who have lost, or not received, their voting papers will be available at Papanui Service Centre at the corner of Langdons Road and Restell Street and at the Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street. The facilities will be accessible for the duration of the voting period.
Completed voting papers may also be returned to any Council library or service centre.
