QLDC Annual Work Programme Released
The Queenstown
Lakes District Council will be concentrating on 40 key
projects in 2014-15, set out in its new work programme for
the year.
QLDC Mayor Vanessa van Uden described the programme as “an ambitious workload which includes continuation of flagship projects such as the District Plan Review, Wanaka Sports Facility and the proposed Convention Centre.”
Having secured several financial improvements over the past two years, which have resulted in successive zero rates increases, the Council would consolidate in the coming financial year with an emphasis on comprehensive planning for the 2015/16 Ten Year Plan.
“The Council is committed to ensuring that our long term plans not only deliver high quality services, facilities and infrastructure, but also doing so in a manner that is financially responsible and sustainable,” Mayor van Uden said.
Other work that is set to be delivered in 2014/15 includes further improvements to library services; adoption of an economic development strategy; waste water options for Cardrona and Glenorchy; and starting Stage One of the Shotover Wastewater Treatment Plan.
The plan is on the Council website and progress on delivery of the projects will be reported on a monthly basis at Council meetings.
