Nick Leggett Beats Zombies to Connect Porirua to Fast Fibre
A new online game called Nick Leggett Fast Fibre has just been launched by Porirua City Council. Players help the Porirua Mayor connect homes and businesses with fast fibre and support Porirua’s bid to become New Zealand’s first Gigatown.
Porirua City Council Economic Development Manager Chris Lipscombe says the game is a fun way to highlight how the community and business working together can help win the Gigatown competition.
“It follows on from the recent run Mayor Nick Leggett did from Porirua City to Wellington City. We want to highlight that winning Gigatown in Porirua will also have benefits for the region.”
The game features locations around Porirua City and has the Mayor running again, but this time from zombies!
“The local businesses in the game provide the Mayor with shelter from the zombie onslaught and each time he collects a Whittaker’s chocolate bar he gains another life. It’s quite addictive and if players tweet their scores, we win more points for Gigatown Porirua.”
Mr Lipscombe says Porirua is very pleased to have the support of J H Whittakers & Sons who have lent their new honey nut crunch chocolate bar to the game.
“As well as the online version of this tasty chocolate, Whittaker’s have given us a bunch of the real product to give away to people tweeting their scores at the end of the game.”
Whittaker’s Marketing Manager Holly Whittaker says, as a Porirua-based business, Whittaker’s was pleased to support Porirua’ campaign to win Gigatown.
To play the game, go to www.gamefroot.com/fast-fibre. Play as many times as you like and remember to post your scores.
