Police, Fire and ambulance are responding to a light plane crash in Central Otago near the Poolburn Reservoir. The New Zealand Rescue Co-ordination Centre received a emergency locator beacon activation at the same time one of the passengers made contact with the emergency services.
The first police officer on the scene reported that there were 3 persons with serious injuries.
The location of the plane is in a remote area near a small rural airstrip, which is making it difficult for services to access by vehicle. The rescue helicopters from Dunedin and Queenstown are assisting.
