Car v Pole Incidents Keep Crews Busy

Car v Pole Incidents Keep Crews Busy

NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 3 August 2014
ELECTRICITY

It was a busy week for crews attending car v pole incidents. Eight incidents occurred across Auckland in Papakura, Mt Roskill, Papatoetoe, Massey, Mangere, Henderson and Waiheke during the week. A pole had to be replaced at the Papatoetoe incident.

A car also damaged a Vector pillar in an incident in Weymouth.

A building fire was reported in Henderson South during the week. Due to the extent of the fire, our crews could not safely isolate power until the Fire Chief was onsite. Power was also isolated to the site of a fire in Mt Wellington during the week.

GAS

An isolation of gas supply was requested in Wiri during the week, due to a building fire. A smell of gas was reported in Birkenhead, but contractors advised of no trace being found. In Hamilton, a member of the public notified us of a contractor striking a gas pipe, and the necessary repairs were carried out.

SHORTS

• Vector owns over 17,900 kilometres of overhead and underground lines in the greater Auckland area, and 12,752 of gas pipe lines, almost half of which supply gas to Auckland.

• Vector, proud sponsor of the Arena.
