State Highway 6 re-opens after slip at Clarke Bluff
State Highway 6, from Haast township to Makarora, has re-opened after it was closed by a slip at Clarke Bluff, 10km north of the Gates of Haast, late yesterday.
The NZ Transport Agency’s Senior Network Manager Mark Pinner says the slip has been cleared but some debris still remain on the highway, reducing traffic to single lane.
“There were a number of smaller slips overnight, including one at Orman Falls, about halfway between Haast township and Haast Pass. Our contractors are working along this stretch of the highway clearing away any remaining debris.
“With heavy rain continuing to fall in the region and debris still on the highway, motorists are advised to take extra care travelling through the area and to drive to the conditions.”
He says the highway will close as usual at 4pm at Haast township and 4.30pmat Makarora today.
