No leaf unturned in hunt for Hutt’s Great Trees
Hutt City Council is currently seeking nominations of Hutt City’s greatest trees as part of a review of the notable
trees register.
Two weeks into the campaign, Pohutakawa and Totara are leading the way in terms of most popular species. However,
there’s still time to nominate.
People can nominate a tree anywhere in the urban area of Hutt City using any of these options:
• Tweet a photo + tree address using #greathutttrees
• Email us at greathutttrees@huttcity.govt.nzgreathutttrees@huttcity.govt.nz>
• Send in our Great Hutt Trees postcard, which can be picked up from the Council building at 531 High Street, Lower Hutt
• Fill in our nomination form online at http://huttcity.govt.nz/greathutttrees
Nominations are being collected until Friday 15 August 2014. A nominated tree or group of trees does not automatically
qualify for protected status under the District Plan.
All nominations will be checked by Council and all valid nominations will then be assessed by a qualified arbourist.
Council is aiming to undertake the assessments during the spring months (September – November) as this is when trees
look their best.
