Ruapehu district libraries digital services have been expanded with library members now being able to access the full library catalogue on-line via links on Council’s website.
Ruapehu District Council (RDC) Community Library, Fiona Thomas, said that the ability to access the library catalogue on-line was a really exciting addition to the digital services that Ruapehu libraries offer.
“Library members now have free access to a huge selection of e-books as well as to award winning research and information sources such as Encyclopedia Britannica and NZ Geographic,” she said.
“Accessing the library catalogue and making use of our digital services is really simple.”
“If you have a computer at home you’re ready to go.”
“Library members are now able to access and download books and information on whole range of digital devices from i-pads and other tablet computers, smartphones, notebooks and PC’s, and most e-book readers.”
Mrs Thomas noted that the range of digital services that the library is offering is always evolving.
“The Ruapehu library service has joined with over 140 other NZ libraries as part of a research system called EPIC which gives our members access to thousands of high quality electronic publications including; full text journals, newspapers, magazines, photographs, graphics and much more.”
“The on-line resources that library members can access are always being updated with the latest information and findings which make them perfect for homework or anyone studying or doing research,” she said.
Mrs Thomas added that anyone not familiar with Ruapehu libraries digital services can have a look on-line without signing-up.
“Just go the RDC’s website; www.ruapehudc.govt.nz and follow the links on the homepage,” she said.
“If they have any outstanding queries or need assistance with getting going come in to their local library and talk with one of their local librarians.”
