Replacement trains on Onehunga Line
Auckland’s new electric trains are being temporarily replaced on the Onehunga Line.
Auckland Transport says what appears to be an intermittent power fault occurred twice in 24 hours. AT’s Chief Operations Officer Greg Edmonds stresses there are no safety issues associated with the incidents.
“We need to get to the root of the issue but just as importantly we must ensure services run reliably for our customers,’ he says. “So as not to inconvenience customers we have decided to run diesel units.”
Timetables are unchanged.
Mr Edmonds says a fix could take several days and that minor issues such as this are to be expected during the commissioning phase of the new train fleet.
