Let’s Get Crafty
If you’re looking for new creative inspiration and a fresh, new challenge this winter, look no further than Australasia’s favourite Craft & Quilt Fair – returning to Hamilton in August and jam-packed full of exciting exhibitions and activities for the whole family.
Fancy trying your hand at something new? There are free demonstrations and seminar-style workshops each day and for the small cost of a kit, you can try a make-and-take class where you will learn the crafts of card making, scrapbooking, stamping, quilting, jewellery making, textile art techniques and more, all from the experts.
Internationally renowned and talented scrapbooker, Louise Nelson from South Australia, will be demonstrating her techniques and teaching classes daily. Her style is arty and her designs are an inspiration for anyone interested in paper craft or any type of mixed media.
Be energised by guest artist Jo Dixey, a freelance embroiderer and stitch artist with works ranging from large wall hung quilts to fine embroideries, all mostly based on the human form and issues present in modern life. And, if you think you’ve seen quilt works in every imaginable shape, the 20 Hoffman Challenge quilts are a must see. Plus the stunning finalists’ quilts in the AQC Challenge display this year are sure to leave you feeling inspired!
Discover new fibre works of the weaving, felting, crocheting and freeform varieties – and meet special guests, contemporary tapestry weaver Marilyn Rea-Menzies, and Northland weaver Agnes Hauptli – all at the Creative Fibre display.
Get up close and personal with the crafters and their displays and stock up on craft supplies from the broad range of specialty retailers from New Zealand and Australia. Whatever you need, Australasia’s number one craft fair is your one-stop shop.
So whether you love the ‘traditional’ crafts or those with a ‘modern twist’, the Craft & Quilt Fair will provide just the inspiration you need to create something really special. Get a group of friends together and enjoy a fabulous day out... you’ll love it.
