Zone of Peace Castle Street- Launch Party
We encourage you to join us in celebrating the launch of a new community initiative. A “Zone of Peace” has been planned, running on Castle Street from the St David Lecture Theatre complex to the corner of Dundas Street. The Zone of Peace incorporates a number of community groups therein.
The Zone of Peace has been created for the purpose of encouraging members of the community to purposefully think about what a peaceful community looks like and to proactively work towards this end. The Zone of Peace launch party will celebrate the launching of this initiative through speeches from community members outlining what a Zone of Peace means to them, a potluck meal and entertainment.
“We are inviting all those who work, live or frequent Castle Street North and its immediate neighbourghood to join us for a celebration of our diversity and community. This is a chance for us to eat together, be hospitable toward each other and to think intentionally about how we want to treat each other; how we might generate a sustainable future for the street and discern what mechanisms we need to develop to resolve issues between us amicably and nonviolently. We are hoping that this will be the beginning of a movement that will capture the imagination of all New Zealanders as we think about how we might generate stable peaceful relationships at home, in our work place and in the neighbourhoods, communities, cities and nation within which we live. “
All are welcome.
When: Tuesday 22nd of July- 12-2pm.
Where: National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, 518 & 520 Castle Street.
