Traffic update - week starting 7 July, 2014, first week school holidays
This weekend
Port Hills Road - Sunday, 6 July, expect delays, watch out for Stop/ Go people
Please watch out for delays Sunday, 6 July, from 7.30am to 5.00pm at the underbridge along Port Hills Road. This work is the first part to be undertaken over the next few months on strengthening these bridge piers. A stop-go-system will be in place.
Central City
Park Terrace – Armagh to Salisbury St will be back to two-way from tonight around 6 pm, sealing happening today (4 July). Thanks to all residents and the nearby school communities for their patience while this road has been restricted.
Manchester St is currently one way from the river/ Oxford Tce to Armagh St, southbound only. This work is part of a package of wastewater pipe repairs by SCIRT’s McConnell Dowell team in this area. See the work notice for a full picture. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5061
Gloucester St from Colombo to Manchester is one-way east bound only (towards Manchester).http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5123
Armagh St is westbound between Manchester and Colombo, however there is access to shops along New Regent St at both the Gloucester and Armagh ends.
Barbadoes St (one-way south) has lane closures for final road reconstruction from the river to Melrose St/ south of Bealey Ave. This is the final stage of this infrastructure repair and will take until mid September. See work notice. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5056
St Asaph St is two lanes, with no parking on the side of road, in places between Fitzgerald Avenue and Colombo Street for the next two weeks.
Madras St (one-way north) is down to one lane in several places up to Bealey Ave until late July.http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/4997
Durham St North work is ongoing until the week ending 18 July, between Kilmore and Armagh. This one-way south street is also down to a single lane from Salisbury to Hereford St (past the Law Courts/ Provincial Chambers). http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/4651
Hereford St, between Montreal St and Durham St will be one-way, and remain westbound (towards the park). Currently there are night works happening from 6 pm on the water main replacement. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5124

St Andrews Hill Road, Mt Pleasant - 7-9 July and later
SCIRT’s Downer team are currently working on retaining wall repairs on St Andrews Hill Road. For three days fromMonday 7 July to Wednesday 9 July, St Andrews Hill Road will be reduced to one lane downhill only in the area of the worksite, and closed to uphill traffic. Detour routes are Port Hills Road onto Cannon Hill Crescent or Mount Pleasant Road. The road will then reopen to two way traffic for about three weeks, before being closed to uphill traffic again in early August for around three weeks. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5109
Wairarapa Tce/ Garden Road intersection closure, Fendalton - This intersection is likely to be closed from 7 July. Garden Road residents north of the stream, will need to access their properties via Poynder Ave or Wroxton Terrace. Wainoni Road/ Bickerton St intersection, Bickerton St and Ottawa Road, Wainoni: Although Wainoni Road continues as two-way, Bickerton St is closed between Tahuna St and Wainoni Road and Ottawa Road is one-way west only. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5120
Breezes Road, Aranui, one way Lenton St to Rowses Road – SCIRT’s City Care team is installing the new vacuum wastewater system in Aranui. As a result, Breezes Road between Lenton St and Rowses Road is one-way, southbound only. Acheson Avenue, Shirley, between Skipton and Emmett Streets, is down to one-lane heading west towards Hills Road.
Orontes Street, Shirley is closed for wastewater repairs at the Emmett St end and a full road reconstruction at the Quinns Road end. The wastewater repairs are expected to take about two weeks and the road reconstruction around three months. Sumner Main Road, between McCormacks Bay Road and Redcliffs moa cave – full road closure from the moa cave. Detours Beachville Road and Celia Street.
