Nominations close for Shirley–Papanui Community Board
Nominations have closed for a spot on the
Shirley–Papanui Community Board, with three candidates
going to the polls in the August postal ballot.
Voters in the Shirley–Papanui ward will be able to elect one of the following to represent them at the governance level:
• Jo Byrne
• Lynda Goodrick
•
Emma Rawson
Full candidate statements will be available at www.ccc.govt.nz/elections within the next few days.
Electoral Officer Clare Sullivan is thanking all the candidates for stepping up for their community.
“Being on the Community Board is a rewarding role – Community Board members are the closest link between individuals who want to raise an issue and the level where Council decisions are made.
“That’s why it’s in the community’s interest to keep an eye on the mailbox for the voting papers, have a good read of the candidate profile statements, pick who you feel is the best person to represent you, and cast your vote.”
Voting papers will be sent to enrolled Shirley–Papanui residents from Thursday 7 to Tuesday 12 August 2014. Votes must be returned in the FreePost envelope provided by noon on Friday 29 August 2014, with preliminary results declared that afternoon.
Special voting facilities will be available at Papanui Service Centre at the corner of Langdons Road and Restell Street.
The preliminary electoral roll for Shirley–Papanui is now open for people to check if they are enrolled to vote. Updates to the roll will close at 4pm on Thursday 3 July 2014.
