Help light up Auckland at Diwali Festival 2014
Applications are now open for stallholders and performers who would like to help light up Auckland at Auckland Diwali
Festival 2014.
The Auckland Diwali Festival is a two day celebration that brings Aucklanders and visitors of all ages and ethnic
backgrounds together to celebrate and experience Indian culture in its many exciting forms.
It is the largest vegetarian festival in the country and includes live performances, a huge range of Indian foods and
sweets, street theatre, workshops and a dazzling fireworks display.
The event – which is presented by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) and Asia NZ Foundation –
will take place in Aotea Square and Queen Street in central Auckland on the weekend of 11 – 12 October 2014.
ATEED Chief Executive, Brett O’Riley, says: “Auckland Diwali Festival is one of the major cultural events in our region,
and represents a great opportunity for Aucklanders and visitors of all ethnic backgrounds to experience a traditional
Indian festival.”
Groups and performers who would like to be considered for stage performances, street performances and the Radio Tarana
Bollywood dance competition at Auckland Diwali Festival must apply by 31 July.
Auckland Diwali Festival stall sites are available for vegetarian food, sweets, craft, and henna vendors, or to promote
community organisations and businesses. The deadline for stallholder applications is 25 July.
