Local recipients benefit by over $26,000

The Creative Communities Local Arts Funding Scheme has allocated over $26,000 to the local arts community in the latest round of funding.

“This was a particularly competitive round with a lot of great projects being put forward,” Adrian Turner fund administrator said.

The fund aims to support local communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts activities.

The recipients for this round are Palmerston North Operatic Society for The Phantom of the Opera $1000, Angie Farrow for City Dreaming $1400, Brent Putze to publish a book of comic strips $3000, Samir Loumachi for DJ workshops $1050, Skin Theatre for The Laramie Project $1991, Craft Group Manawatū for Craft workshops $975, Te Kiko Trust for Maori Role Models $4650, Chinese Community Trust for Chinese traditional arts $1500, Te Aroha Noa for IT Factor competition $5000, Manawatū Performing Arts Competition’s Vocal Festival $1200 and Performing Arts Competitions Association for the National Young Performer Awards in Palmerston North $5000.

“The variety and quality of projects applying indicate a healthy and vibrant community arts scene in Palmerston North,” Adrian said. “We would like to thank all those who applied. The next round of Creative Communities funding will open in July.”
