Traffic update – from Saturday, 28 June, 2014
Central City
Lichfield St/ Oxford Tce intersection will have lane closures all day Saturday, 28 June, 7 am to 6 pm for pipe-lining. If you driving close to Re:Start or through the city using Durham St be aware there may be delays.
Manchester St is currently one way from the river/ Oxford Tce to Armagh St, southbound only. This work is part of a package of

Gloucester St work starts in the week of 30 June and will take two weeks. Gloucester St from New Regent St/ the tram tracks to Colombo will be one-way west bound only (towards Colombo). The

Barbadoes St (one-way south) has lane closures for final road reconstruction from the river to Melrose St/ south of Bealey Ave. This is the final

Montreal St (one-way north) – there is a lane closure from St Asaph St south to Wilmer St for the next month or so while the wastewater pipe is

Colombo St is reopening to traffic north and south at Tuam St from Friday, 27 June.

Bealey Ave/Madras St intersection work is ongoing until early July. Bealey Ave stays reduced to two lanes east and westbound past Madras St during the day and

Durham St North work is ongoing until week ending 18 July, between Kilmore and Armagh Streets. This one-way south street is also down to a

Tuam St will be back to one lane, ie reopened, between Colombo and Manchester from Monday, 30 June.
Lichfield St (one way east) now has a lane open between Manchester and Madras, through to Fitzgerald Ave.

Outside the Four Aves
Fitzgerald Ave, Richmond - From the middle of the week, Fitzgerald Ave between Alexandra St and Heywood Terrace will be reduced to one lane
northbound for work in the central medium.
Sumner Main Road, between McCormacks Bay Road and Redcliffs moa cave – full closure from 3 July - Full road closure at the moa cave from Thursday, 3 July. Detours Beachville Road and Celia Street.
SCIRT delivery team Fulton Hogan is installing a new wastewater pressure main pipe on Main Road between McCormacks Bay
Road and the moa cave in Redcliffs.
• Work began on Monday 23 June and is expected to take about six weeks to complete.
• Drivers are asked to please watch their speed along Beachville Road and be considerate of residents.

Soleares Ave, Mt Pleasant, closed for pedestrians Monday, 30 June - SCIRT’s Fletcher team is currently using a mobile crane, installing concrete beams for the bridge structure. As a
result, the footpath has to be closed on Soleares Ave, on three days including Monday, 30 June. Currently the road is
closed to cars while the work is underway. The work on Soleares Ave is scheduled to be finished at the end of August.http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/4523
Aldwins Road, Phillipstown, expect delays for the week starting 30 June - Traffic heading south between Linwood Ave and Ferry Road will be reduced to one lane between Marlborough and Newcastle
Streets for pipe-testing on Aldwins Road during this week.
Barrington St near Stanbury Ave, Somerfield – short-term road repair week starting 30 June on Barrington St near the pedestrian crossing. Two way traffic will be
maintained but drivers please take care near this crossing.
Bromley Road, Bromley – existing road closure near the Keighleys Road intersection will continue until Wednesday 2 July, followed by a road

Wairarapa Tce/ Garden Road intersection closure, Fendalton - This intersection will be closed in the week starting 30 June with additional crews working to increase the speed of
this new pipe installation. Garden Road residents, north of the stream, will need to access their properties via Poynder
Ave or Wroxton Terrace. Wairarapa Terrace residents will need to access their properties via Garden Road, south of the

Upcoming work
St Andrews Hill Road, Mt Pleasant - 7-9 July and later
SCIRT’s Downer team are currently working on retaining wall repairs on St Andrews Hill Road. For three days from Monday
7 July to Wednesday 9 July, St Andrews Hill Road will be reduced to one lane downhill only in the area of the worksite,
and closed to uphill traffic. Detour routes are Port Hills Road onto Cannon Hill Crescent or Mount Pleasant Road. The
road will then reopen to two way traffic for about three weeks, before being closed to uphill traffic again in early
August for around three weeks.
