Campbell Live Investigation Leads to Removal of Mall Scammers
An Auckland mall has late this afternoon evicted a tenant following a Campbell Live investigation.
The Kiwi Income Property Trust, which owns LynnMall, this afternoon evicted tenant Dead Sea Premier following
revelations of elder abuse.
Dead Sea Premier operates cosmetic kiosks in malls throughout New Zealand.
From tomorrow they will no longer be trading at LynnMall following revelations on Campbell Live tonight that staff
bullied an 82-year-old woman into purchasing more than $5,000 in skin products over two weekends, holding her at the
kiosk after the mall closed, taking partial EFTPOS payments and then accompanying her to an ATM to withdraw the balance
in cash.
The victim’s son told Campbell Live: “Five thousand dollars for products that she doesn’t want and doesn’t use. They’re
completely unopened. There’s one item there for a mask $599.99 which seems an awful amount of money for a mask and then
on another receipt it seems to be the same item for $400. It looks like they’re just making up the prices as they go
depending on how much they think they can get away with charging somebody.”
Campbell Live has since returned the unopened products to Dead Sea Premier’s head office. Kiwi Property Management Ltd
told Campbell Live it had been advised Dead Sea Premier had refunded the elderly victim’s payments and it would also be
apologising to the victim.
