Traffic update – week of 9 June, 2014
Central City
New work starting
• Bealey Avenue will be down to two lanes eastbound between Manchester and Barbadoes streets during the day, and down to one lane at night
• Madras Street will be down to one lane from Latimer Square north to Bealey Avenue
• Barbadoes Street and Tuam Street intersection – it is expected that from Monday 9 June (weather dependent) there will be no through route for vehicles westbound on Tuam Street across Barbadoes Street. This is expected to last 10 days
Expect delays on these roads during peak times
• Barbadoes Street is down to a single lane in places between Bealey Avenue and Moorhouse Avenue
• Durham Street North is down to a single lane between Salisbury Street and Moorhouse Avenue
• Madras Street is down to a single lane between Moorhouse Avenue and Lichfield Street.
• Gasson Street approaching Moorhouse Avenue. We recommend if you are using Gasson Street and intend to continue north towards the Central City, go down Brougham Street and use Waltham Road and Fitzgerald Avenue to go north instead.
Drivers are reminded
• Use the four avenues for cross-town journeys - go around rather than through.
• Fitzgerald Avenue is a reliable route for both north and southbound journeys.
• Use Montreal Street for northbound travel.
• To access the Central City from Bealey Avenue, use Colombo Street and Manchester Street.
