Airport Welcomes for Rugby Test
Dunedin (Wednesday, 4 June 2014) – Dunedin people are being urged to roll out a warm southern welcome for the All Blacks
and England teams when they arrive for their 14 June test match clash.
The All Blacks arrive at 5.25pm on Sunday 8 June at the Dunedin International Airport, with the England team arriving at
5.25pm on Thursday 12 June. The Dunedin City Council is encouraging fans to get dressed up and head out to the airport
to welcome both teams to Dunedin ahead of the second test of the Steinlager Series.
The King’s and Queen’s High Schools’ Kapa Haka group will welcome teams on arrival and then a local pipe band will pipe
them through the terminal.
Fans are in for an epic battle as both teams will be looking forward to getting the upper hand ahead of the 2015 Rugby
World Cup. There are still a small number of tickets available for this not-to-be-missed match at the Forsyth Barr
Stadium.
Mayor of Dunedin Dave Cull says, “Dunedin is well known for its enthusiastic welcomes and I know there will be great
support for both teams when they set down in our city.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming plenty of keen rugby followers to Dunedin, from around the region and further
afield, for this exciting test match.”
DCC Events Special Projects Co-ordinator Tammy Jackman says fans also have an opportunity to see the All Blacks at a
special event on stage at the Dunedin Town Hall from 3.30pm to 5pm on Monday, 9 June. Join the All Blacks ahead of the
England test in a free and fun-filled show hosted by Small Blacks TV host Nua Finau and Random Rugby host Makere
Bradnam.

prizes, videos, gags and some fun games and activities that will “This is a great way to build up for the big test.”
If you want to dress up your business to celebrate the test match, the Otago Chamber of Commerce has Dunedin bunting
available for $15 per 8 metre rope.
