Christchurch Police seek assistance after Hei Hei robbery
Police are appealing for information to help identify an offender who allegedly robbed a Hei Hei dairy at knifepoint on Saturday night [31 May].
At around 7.50pm on Saturday a man entered the Wycola Dairy (38 Wycola Avenue) and presented a knife to the shop owner.
Detective Sergeant Grant Collins says the offender forced the owner to hand over a sum of money from the cash register. The owner was shaken but not injured.
The offender then left the shop on foot, heading towards the nearby intersection of Wycola Avenue and Manurere Street. It is believed a car may have been waiting nearby.
The offender was described as a male of Maori or Pacific Island descent, in his early 20s, approximately 180cm tall (6ft) tall.
Detective Sergeant Collins says the offender was disguised, wearing what appears to be a black beanie and black scarf under the hood of a distinctive sweatshirt.
The man was also carrying a satchel-type bag over his shoulder, and was wearing black gloves.
