Taumarunui Boil Water Notice Lifted
Ruapehu District Council (RDC) has lifted the boil water notice for Taumarunui and Manunui following successful testing
of newly installed filter parts.
RDC had hoped to be able to lift the boiled water notice by last Friday (30 May) but decided to err on the side of
caution to allow the newly rebuilt filters to be tested over the long weekend.
RDC Chief Executive, Peter Till, said that to date there has been no major teething problems and so we are lifting the
boil water notice.
“We will be watching the performance of the filters closely over the next heavy rain event to see how they perform,” he
said.
“A third filter will be brought online when the manufactured parts arrive from America.”
“We are hoping this will all be completed by the end of June.”
Mr Till said that Council would like to thank everyone who has been affected by this event for their patience and
understanding.
“In these situations we work as quickly as we can but cannot afford to take risks with the community’s health.”
