A Night of Feminist Cinema and Fabulous Eateries In Balmoral

Press release – A Night of Feminist Cinema and Fabulous Eateries In Balmoral
Auckland Women’s Centre
Capitol Cinema, 610 Dominion Road, Balmoral
Sunday 15th June 7:30pm

Mia Wasikowska leads this Australian true story as Robyn Davidson – a young woman who traversed 2,700km of brutal desert on foot, from Alice Springs to the Indian Ocean.

Davidson was in her mid-twenties when she left her life in Sydney in pursuit of something more fulfilling. She shifted to Alice Springs where she lived rough and worked with camels, including four who would accompany her, and her dog Diggity, across the desert.

Join us for a great night of feminist cinema and support the important work of Auckland Women’s Centre.

Tracks is filled with stunning cinematography that allows us to become lost in the beauty of the vast, richly colored landscape. The film shows not the great white adventurer conquering the desert, but the adventurer becoming absorbed into it.
This film delivers a real sense of the mental and physical challenges Davidson faced, and the danger of her six-month journey.

“An extremely authentic and beautiful film –”, said Leonie Morris, manager of the Auckland Women’s Centre.
