Young and old all in for Wainuiomata King of the Hill
Young and old all in for King of the Hill next Sunday
There's still time to sign up for next Sunday's King of the Hill event in Wainuiomata.
It's an all ages walk or run - with competitors ranging from two years old to 70. Most people registered live in Wainuiomata but others are coming from Taranaki and Wellington for the inaugural event.
There's stacks of great prizes to be won - there's $400 cash for first man and woman home, $50 Westfield vouchers for Best Dressed King and Best Dress Queen and a $50 Countdown voucher (for a great morning tea) for Best Themed Team.
Best Decorated Pushchair/Pram will take home a $50 Farmers voucher and there's lots of spot prizes including four $100 Air New Zealand vouchers, 12 pool passes and electrolyte drink.
The event, on Sunday 1 June, will see people walk or run from Queen Street Reserve behind the Wainuiomata Library to the summit lookout and back. Families and walkers can stop at the top for photos on the King of the Hill throne or to take in the stellar view.
Racers will be able to head straight back down to try and pick up the prize for first home.
King of the Hill costs $10 for adults, $5 for children and is free for those under-five.
Sign up now at www.kingofthehill.co.nz or at Wainuiomata Library or the i-SITE in Laings Road.
