Queen’s Birthday on Queens Wharf Only Ten Days Away

Hear Ye Hear Ye! The annual Queen’s Birthday celebrations on Auckland’s Queens Wharf are upon us. With only ten days to go, the butcher, the baker and the candle stick maker are all hard at work preparing the finest of sumptuous delights and the best in fanciful entertainment for the imminent return of this signature waterfront event.

In association with Waterfront Auckland, Queen’s Birthday at Queens Wharf is a free, all ages celebration paying homage to the merriment and magic of British and Irish history, culture, sports and food. It will be held over three days from Saturday 31st May till Monday 2nd June, open daily to the public from 10:00am.

There’s something for every generation to enjoy including rides galore, face painting and Famous 5 workshops for the kids, and High Tea, whisky tastings and Bagpipe performances for those slightly longer in the tooth.

For Aucklander’s and city visitors alike, escape down the rabbit hole to the Mad Hatter Tea Party, admire the very finest collection of classic Minis, Daimlers and other vintage cars or soak up the essence of a Brighton seaside with the bright lights and fast rides of our authentic English Carnival and colourful marketplace on Queens Wharf.

Inside The Cloud, you’ll also experience the best of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and their local communities here in Auckland. Each day a themed film will be screening some of your favourites like Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Wallace & Gromit. Yes! We all love these British classics.

Of course there will be a wide and wonderful selection of foods, ales and Ol’ Blighty themed treats, including catering from Mint Kitchen and market stalls from Pommies, Lewis Turrell’s House Of Scotland, The Candyman, Pipes Association Fundraiser stall and lots lots more. Pack your pennies, as there’s bound to be a tasty morsel or touristy takeaway for you or your kids.

Performances will include Highland and Maypole dancing, puppeteers, pipers and a seaside shanty from the Maritime Crew. As well as that, there will be a series of interactive stalls and exhibitions from Pt. Chevalier Bowling Club, Tennis NZ, Auckland Croquet Association and the NZ Rugby Union who have players from the IRB Junior World Champs attending. Get ready and get set to go play a cheeky round with these local legends.

Explore the rich history of your predecessors and find out more about your Scottish clan? There will be an array of Scottish clans and their respective tartan on display. Whether you’re from the Aberdore clan in the Fife district, the Aberlady from the Dunbar district or just after a good jolly - it’ll be fun for everyone.
Be sure to attend this unique and beloved event. Queen’s Birthday on Queens Wharf will be a weekend of attractions, tea parties and history of which Her Royal Highness herself would be rather proud.
