Free funding seminars for the community to be held in June
The Community Services team at Upper Hutt City Council have partnered with the Funding Information Service, the Department of Internal Affairs, and the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand to bring a series of free funding seminars to the Upper Hutt community. Over the space of three weeks in June, the Upper Hutt Central Library will host a presentation from each of these organisations for anyone interested in learning about funding.
Locating funds is a task that many people find daunting and hard to approach. Whether you struggle knowing where to find a funding grant that is appropriate for your cause, or how to fill out the application to give your group the best possible chance of successfully gaining the grant, these seminars will teach you more about the process.
The first presentation is scheduled for Wednesday 11 June from 6.00 – 7.00 pm. The Funding Information Service will present their FundView database and how you can use it to locate different grants that are appropriate to your project or cause.
The second seminar will take place the following week, on Wednesday 18 June from 12.30 – 1.30 pm. Here, the Department of Internal Affairs will be discussing tips on writing a successful funding application, and will be sharing their tricks of the trade.
The final seminar will be on Wednesday 25 June from 12.30 – 1.30 pm and will be led by the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand on the different methods that you can use to attract funding for your needs.
“Everyone is welcome to attend these seminars,” says Community Services Manager, Debbie Duncan. “So if you have had trouble with finding funds for your sports group, cultural group or community group in the past, then come along.”
Bookings are not necessary. The public are encouraged to simply attend the seminars they are interested in.
