Kapiti Food Fair 2014 announces new location to handle growth
Proudly Sponsored by ANZ Paraparaumu
The Kapiti Food Fair 2014 is on the move to a new location to handle growth. The Mazengarb Reserve will become the new
home for the Fair and the Organisers are very excited about the move. “We always knew a move was imminent and we are
delighted that we have secured the Mazengarb Reserve as it ticks all of our important boxes like, room to expand, access
to power and public toilets, an indoor space, a kitchen and critically parking, says Helene Judge, Committee
Spokesperson.
The 2014 Fair hosted 103 sites last year and it is hoped this will grow this year and beyond. The Mazengarb Reserve
offers the future proofing for space that Lindale could not offer which is really unfortunate as Lindale offered a
lovely tranquil environment to run the Fair. Lindale ownership is well aware of our decision to move and they are
disappointed but they understand why we need to go.
Lindale was great mates with the Fair and they welcomed our annual event with open arms and were always so accommodating
when it came to accessing their whole property for the day of the Fair. “We are very grateful to Greg Rudings and all
Lindale tenants for supporting the Fair and its growth ambitions, and we sincerely thank them for having us over the
last couple of years. Without their support the Fair would have ceased to exist two to three years ago”, says Helene.
Another reason to relocate the Fair while positioning itself for growth were the public parking arrangements. We always
knew that once the old Whitireia Polytechnic site was sold that access to that piece of land for parking would not be
available to the Fair.
Millvale Lodge Lindale, the new owners, have now opened their impressive new dementia facility and are in the process of
renovating the buildings and grounds in to a beautiful home for their elderly residents. Helene says, “the Fair
completely understands the importance of managing this risk to make sure their residents are safe, their visitors are
supported and there is 24-7 access for emergency services”.
The Fair is looking forward to running from a new perfect central location which we hope will boost visitor numbers in
the future. “Mazengarb Reserve is an easy walk for many locals, is on a bus route and is located well for access to SHI.
In addition, the Reserve is a popular place for walking, recreation and sporting activity so we are super excited about
running the Fair there”, says Helene.
Vendor registrations for 2014 are rolling in and our Fair sponsor, ANZ Paraparaumu, is also excited by the venue change
and the growth opportunity.
The date for the Fair is Saturday 6th December 2014 – note your calendar now and tell all your friends, family and
colleagues to come for a great gastronomic day out.
