International Museum Day 18 May - Museum Collections Build Connections
Join the rest of the world in making new connections with the past, present, and future by visiting your local museum at
MTG Hawke’s Bay. Last year thirty five thousand museums from 143 countries took part in the event.
MTG Hawke’s Bay celebrates International Museum Day this year with a range of tours and activities for all ages. Come to the museum on Sunday 18 May for just gold coin entry and discover Hawke’s Bay’s amazing collection of objects, art, taonga Maori and archives.
Join MTG curators for free floortalks in the galleries and see behind-the-scenes during a special tour of the archives.
Kids of all ages can make a badge inspired by the silhouettes of Rakai Karaitiana’s mural Nga Raukura o Ahuriri to take home. There will also be a workshop for older children to discover how curators and designers create
exhibitions and their designs will be on display for the day.
