Traffic update - week starting 12 May
Further delays are expected on central city roads from Monday 12 May. Christchurch drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys and to plan their routes.
• Use the Four Aves for cross-town journeys - go around rather than through.
• Fitzgerald Ave is a reliable route for both north and southbound journeys.
• Consider Colombo St and Manchester St from Bealey Ave to access the Central City.
Work in the Central City
Durham St North reduced lanes
Reduced lanes from Kilmore St to south of St Asaph St.
Oxford Terrace one lane
Oxford Terrace is down to one lane from Montreal St to Durham St.
Barbadoes St reduced lanes
Reduced lanes on Barbadoes St from Bealey Ave to Kilmore St, and from Cashel St to St Asaph St.
Tuam St
Closed from Colombo St to Manchester St.
Manchester St one lane between St Asaph and Tuam streets
Manchester St is down to one lane between St Asaph and Tuam streets flowing south towards Sydenham until mid-May.
Manchester St/Bealey Ave intersection open
Manchester St, north of Bealey Ave is open to two-way traffic again and all turning restrictions at the intersection have been removed.
Victoria/Montreal/Salisbury St intersection works complete
Wastewater repair work at the Victoria/Montreal/Salisbury St intersection has been completed. Victoria St is open to two way traffic again and the Montreal St lanes have also been reinstated.
Outside the Four Aves
Mathesons/Ferry Rd intersection night works
Work replacing damaged storm water pipes at the intersection of Ferry and Mathesons roads is due to start on Sunday 11 May. The works will take place at night, between8pm and 6am for approximately five nights.
There will be no entry into Ferry Rd at the Wilsons Rd North and Ferry Road intersection for eastbound traffic. Please follow the detour. There will also be no entry or exit from Mathesons Rd into Ferry Rd during work hours. Please access via Nursery Rd and Cross St. View the work notice
Wilsons Rd update
• From Thursday 15 May two-way traffic will be restored from the Wilsons Rd/Centaurus Rd roundabout to Ramahana Rd. There will be a temporary roundabout in place.
• From Thursday 15 May, Wilson Rd will be one way heading towards the city between the Wilsons Rd roundabout and Koromiko St. This will be for approximately one week while wastewater repairs are carried out.
Centaurus Rd/Aynsley Terrace
• Aynsley Terrace is closed between Grange St and Centaurus Rd for road reconstruction and kerb and channel repairs until approximately mid-June. Residents will still have access to their properties.
• Road repairs continue at the intersection of Centaurus Rd and Aynsley Terrace heading west for about 150 metres. Stop/Go signs are in place.
