Bus and Zoo sponsorship for lower decile schools

Bus and Zoo sponsorship for lower decile schools

Go Wellington is pleased to continue its longstanding relationship with Wellington Zoo by providing a discounted travel option for children, teachers and caregivers to the Zoo as part of the Warehouse Zoofari programme.

The Zoo is one of Wellington’s most popular public transport destinations. To enable more children from low decile schools to visit the Zoo, Go Wellington are offering schools a heavily reduced charter rate. The Warehouse has already made a $25k donation towards the 2014 Warehouse Zoofari programme.

This week, the entire roll from Titahi Bay School is visiting the Zoo on Go Wellington buses. On Wednesday, 122 students arrived to take part in the experience.

NZ Bus General Manager Strategy Scott Thorne sees the Zoo and Go Wellington partnership as a huge benefit for schoolchildren to get up close and personal with over 500 animals from 100 different species.

“We are proud to support Wellington Zoo and its efforts to encourage schoolchildren for out of the classroom learning.

The benefit of having such an outstanding attraction in our city is very much in line with our commitment to connecting our communities.”

Wellington Zoo offers special learning experiences outside the classroom (LEOTC) learning sessions to build student understanding about nature and inspire them to take positive action to protect wild animals and wild places. Visit here to find out more about LEOTC sessions at Wellington Zoo
