Traffic update - school holidays/ANZAC weekend 2014
Please bear in mind this week and next
are the school holidays so watch out for cyclists and
pedestrians. Major routes should be less
congested.
New work
Barbadoes St down to one lane
south of Bealey Ave
Barbadoes St will be down to
one lane south of Bealey Ave to the river from 28 April.
Work on the bridge near the cemetery will also keep this
road one lane only into June.
Ferry Road one
way
Ferry Road from Phillips St/ Lancaster St to
Fitzgerald Ave, will be one-way, city-bound only from
Monday, 28 April for about three weeks, while the pressure
wastewater pipe is installed. Detour routes east bound will
be marked. Read the work notice for
details.
Bealey Ave at Manchester St, one lane at
weekend, update Sherborne
Bealey Ave will be one
lane only at the Manchester St intersection for eastbound
drivers this weekend. Originally it was planned for this to
happen Thursday, 24 April, but bad weather has changed that
plan.
• Sherborne St is now open to two-way traffic.
• Manchester St is now closed, to both north and southbound drivers, between Bealey Ave and Purchas St, for the rest of the works at this intersection (until early May).
• Bealey Ave will be one lane eastbound for this Saturday morning, 26 April, from 7.30am.
Oxford Terrace between Montreal and
Durham, one lane for a week
Oxford Terrace, one
of the accessways to Lichfield St and the Re:START Mall/
Metro bus exchange will be reduced to one lane for a week
from Monday 28 April, between Montreal and Durham Streets.
This work is taking place during the school holidays while
traffic volumes are low.
Innes Road, Mairehau,
one-way, early next week
Innes Road will be
one-way, towards Hills Road, between Nancy and Kensington
Aves one day early next week. Traffic coming towards
Cranford St will be detoured onto Philpotts Road, Knowles
St, Nancy Ave and back onto Innes Road.
Briggs
Road, Mairehau
Briggs Road will be one-way,
eastbound only, for several weeks from 28 April. Clearbrook
Street will be closed to traffic for wastewater work by
SCIRT's McConnell Dowell team. The detour for westbound
drivers will be via Quinns Road, Orcades and Emmett
Streets.
Clarendon Terrace, Woolston (Brougham to
Marshall St) road closure
From Monday 28 April,
this short stretch of Clarendon Terrace will be closed for
roading work for about six weeks.
Opawa Road
(Hawford Road to Richardson Terrace) one-way for three
months
Opawa Road will be eastbound only from
Wednesday, 30 April for about three months, between Hawford
Road and Richardson Terrace/Ford Road. The detour route for
westbound traffic will be along Brougham
St.
Gayhurst Road bridge/ update on
Avondale
Work is starting next week (28 April)
on the temporary foot/cycling bridge which will be in place
before the Gayhurst Road bridge is closed and demolished.
Gayhurst Road bridge can only be closed once Avondale bridge
is reopened. Asphalt was laid on New Brighton Road 23 April.
Once the pedestrian island is reinstated, the bridge will be
ready to open.
Breezes Road,
Avondale
Road repairs will start at the
intersection of Avondale and Breezes Roads on Monday, 28
April. Motorists heading east towards Wainoni Road will be
detoured via Niven and Eglinton Streets for about four days.
More work will follow.
