More buses and improved services for Green Bay, Titirangi area
Auckland Transport has released its decisions for the bus network in Green Bay, Blockhouse Bay, Wood Bay, French Bay,
Tanekaha, Titirangi, Laingholm, Kaurilands and Glen Eden.
This follows public consultation carried out in late 2013 which resulted in 453 submissions. The consultation report is
available for viewing at www.at.govt.nz/greenbay
For customers it will mean better service frequencies, more trips throughout the day including evenings and weekends and
more frequent services between Titirangi and New Lynn.
There will only be nine route numbers to remember instead of the current 26, making the timetable simpler and easier for
customers to understand. Other changes include:
• New Lynn is to become a key interchange. More local services will connect with trains and buses at New Lynn for
journeys to the city and other destinations. Connections between bus and train have been timed to allow passengers to
transfer easily.
• A new route linking Titirangi Village to Glen Eden shops and the train station has been created.
• Bus services between New Lynn and Titirangi have also been upgraded. Buses are timed for every 30 minutes, seven
days a week, between 6am and 10pm. This is an improvement on current bus services, which run only at odd times and can
be up to 2 hours between some services.
• An express service has been retained in Titirangi, Glen Eden and Laingholm. Other express services have been
removed because they were not well utilised
Public Transport Network Manager, Anthony Cross says “of the 11 routes proposed in the consultation we are making
changes to four of them.
“These are some ‘quick win’ measures as we move the bus network towards the New Network philosophy which is being rolled
out across Auckland.
“Together with service operators we’re looking to implement these changes by early August ahead of the wider New Network
consultation for West Auckland.
“New timetables will be available some weeks before any changes are made. We want to give our customers time to
familiarise themselves and will carry out an education campaign beforehand to ease them into the change.”
