Toll Stadium secures another international sporting fixture

The Toll Stadium team is excited to be hosting the New Zealand Kiwis in their Four Nations fixture against either Fiji
or Samoa on 1 November later this year.
“We have actively worked and supported New Zealand Rugby League and rugby league in Northland over the past few years to
help grow the sport and bring top level league to the community,” said Venues and Events Manager John Lynch.
“This latest international fixture further enhances Toll Stadium’s and Whangarei’s standing in New Zealand as a venue
and city that can successfully host top level international sport.”
“We have hosted the Vodafone Warriors on two separate occasions, the Kiwi Ferns playing England, the NZRL Residents 16s
and 18s playing Australia last year, Northern Swords playing national competition games and hosting the Northland Rugby
League semi finals and finals over the past two years.
“Toll Stadium is a multipurpose events centre that is proving to be an attractive and successful venue for rugby union,
rugby league, football and for many various functions in the lounges throughout the year.
The 2014 tournament will include World Champions and Four Nations holders Australia, co-hosts New Zealand, England and
the winner of the mid-season Pacific Test between Fiji and Samoa to be played at Penrith, in Sydney’s west, on Saturday,
May 3.
NRL Head of Football, Todd Greenberg, yesterday joined QRL Chairman Peter Betros and CEO Rob Moore, Holden Kangaroos
coach Tim Sheens, Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney and Broncos Test stars Sam Thaiday (Australia), Jack Reed (England) and
Alex Glenn (New Zealand) in Brisbane to unveil the tournament schedule.
Mr Lynch said as well as Whangarei, the seven-match tournament will also feature games in Brisbane, Melbourne,
Wollongong and Dunedin, ahead of a first Four Nations final in New Zealand, in the capital Wellington.
These fixtures will give Whangarei, Dunedin and Wellington an early opportunity to show they're ready for 2017 Rugby
League World Cup fixtures.
The Kiwis will kick off their campaign against archrivals Australia in Brisbane on October 25, as a curtain raiser to
England taking on the Pacific champions.
Following the clash with either Fiji or Samoa at Northland’s Toll Stadium on 1 November the Kiwis will face England at
Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on 8 November.
