Kai @ the Right Price comes to Whakatane
People can now access affordable, quality fruit and vegetable packs from two stores in Whakatane – The Fresh Market and Top of the Crop. Starting from Monday 14th April, The Fresh Market and Top of the Crop will take ‘Kai @ the Right Price’ orders from customers throughout the week for pick up on Wednesdays. There are two different sized fruit and vegetable packs to choose from at either $15 or $20. Each pack has a variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables and comes in a sturdy, reusable eco-bag.
Kai @ the Right Price is a community based project supported by Toi Te Ora – Public Health Service. The project aims to help families get their recommended daily intake of fresh fruit and vegetables for a reasonable price. The benefits of eating fruit and vegetables are many. They contain a large number of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients required to enable optimum growth and development and maintain health. “Kai at the Right Price will help whanau get their weekly fruit and vegetables for a good price,” says Brad Bluett, Health Improvement Advisor for Toi Te Ora – Public Health Service.
There will be in-store promotions and healthy recipes and tips included in the bags during the 3 month trial. “If the Whakatane community supports ‘Kai@ the Right Price’ the produce packs will continue to be available from The Fresh Market and Top of the Crop after the trial ends in June. So support Kai @ the Right Price and phone The Fresh Market on 07 308 6596 or Top of the Crop on 07 307 2687 with your weekly order today,” says Brad.
