Prepare to be revved up these school holidays for MOTAT’s newest Holiday Experience ‘Car Crazy’!
From 18 April – 4 May 2014 there will be carloads of fun interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy. Compete against one another in arcade style racing games in ‘Screamin Motors’ or take a walk on our MOTAT ‘Walk of Fame’ and see the stars in our collection. Kids will have the chance to play with popular slot-car sets and learn about what kids played with before arcade games and modern remote cars, in ‘Slot-Car Madness’. Families will also enjoy creating their very own MOTAT ‘Jet Racer’, a balloon powered racing car.
Visitors will view our newest exhibition Stars and Cars that goes beyond the vehicles to highlight the stories behind the famous Kiwis that drove them and the Motor Nation exhibition which explores Kiwis’ love of the motor car.
Come along to MOTAT these school holidays and bring the whole family along for some roaring fun!

LEGO® Display and THE LEGO® MOVIE Promo
Date: 18 – 21 April
To celebrate the launch of THE LEGO® MOVIE in cinemas April 17, join MOTAT for four days of THE LEGO® MOVIE activities and giveaways. Meet EMMET the star of THE LEGO® MOVIE at MOTAT on 19 & 20 April from 10 – 11.30am.
Plus, the Auckland LEGO® Users Group will be at MOTAT demonstrating on 18-21 April from 10am daily.
So bring the kids down for an exciting day of LEGO® at MOTAT.

Science Street Fair – 6 April
Experience the science behind glowing bugs, robots and the universe with the MOTAT Science Street Fair!
Bring the entire family down to MOTAT on Sunday 6 April to view an array of interactive science exhibits thanks to the NZ Association of Scientists. Meet some of New Zealand’s leading scientists who will be displaying a variety of exhibits including Zomibebots, robotic kits, solar telescopes, 3D printing, hovercraft and so much more. This event is in addition to all the usual MOTAT fun.
So bring the whole family down to MOTAT and discover the stories and the people who are expanding New Zealand’s scientific knowledge.

MOTAT Super Science Show
Watch Dr Quantum as he demonstrates his super science powers to make the impossible, possible!
Is it possible to suck an egg into a bottle or for a can to be crushed like magic? Learn the science behind the magic at the Super Science Show.
Each show will have an amazing activity, with some needing a ‘super side-kick’ from the audience to assist on stage. Activities include ‘Can Crusher’, ‘Egg Suck’ and hair raising magic with the ‘Van de Graff generator’.
Shows are 30mins in length, and will be run hourly from 11am – 3pm over the following weekends - 15 – 16, 22-23, 29-30 March and 12 & 13 April 2014.

Speedway Display – 5 April
Head down to MOTAT for speedway madness on 5 April!
Western Springs Speedway will be home to the New Zealand Speedway Grand Prix and for one day only MOTAT will showcase a selection of cars and bikes from the event. During your visit, see our newest exhibition Stars and Cars that goes beyond the vehicles to highlight the stories behind the famous Kiwis who drove them, and Motor Nation which explores Kiwis’ love of the motor car.
If you have purchased a ticket to the Grand Prix, MOTAT admission is $5 on the day only so get revved up early with a great day out at MOTAT.

American Classic Car Display – 13 April
Visit MOTAT on Sunday 13 April and see the American Classic Car Club display!
There will be a selection of American Classic Cars on show from 10am – 3pm and all the usual MOTAT fun. So bring the whole family along to view some magnificent cars!

MOTAT Live
Experience MOTAT Live. See MOTAT come to life on the third Sunday of every month. MOTAT has some great things to see and do, including steam train and horse and carriage rides (11am – 3pm). There are also other activities going on throughout the day, including:
- Double decker ‘Big Ben’ tram (weather permitting) and Auckland heritage tram rides
- Lollymaking demonstrations
- Printing press workshop demonstrations
- Road Transport and Tram workshops
- Blacksmith working in the Forge
- Penny Farthing Rider
- Children’s bookbinding workshops
There is much to enjoy at MOTAT every Third Sunday of the month; so get the family together for a fun and educational day out.
