Metrocard balance checker back in action
Passengers can once again top up their Metrocards and check their account balance online, after additional extra security measures have been added to the process.
The main change is that passengers will need to create an online account using a registration code which will be given to them either at the time they buy their Metrocard or when they call Metroinfo on 366 88 55.
Public Transport Manager David Stenhouse says “We appreciate people’s patience while we made changes to improve the system. We are confident that the system we now have offers additional security without significant change for users.
“The registration code will be used for initial registration only. From there passengers will be able to use their card number and password to access the website to obtain their balance and top-up their Metrocard. If people forget their online password, they can reset it themselves via the website.’’
Passengers will still be able to check their balance on the bus, by calling Metroinfo or visiting either the Central Station kiosk or a metro agency.
“We would also like to let people know that there is a new Metro Agency located inside the Northlands mall, at the information counter next to the House of Travel. Passengers can now purchase new Metrocards and top-up existing cards at Northlands which will make accessing Metroinfo even easier,’’ says Mr Stenhouse.
