SH2 North of Te Puke - Road rehabilitation works between Atuaroa Bridge to Te Puke Quarry Road expect delays
Motorists travelling along State Highway 2 (SH2) between Atuaroa Bridge and Te Puke Quarry Road just north of Te
Puke Township are advised that road rehabilitation work will be undertaken over 600 metres of road starting Friday,
delays of up to 20 minutes, depending on the time of the day, can be expected advises the NZ Transport Agency.
The work will commence Friday 21 March and expected to finish on Monday 7 April, starting at 6.00am each day and
finishing at 4.00pm each week day, says the Transport Agency.
A stop/go traffic management operation will be in place for all south bound vehicles and north bound HPMV trucks. For
northbound cars and standard heavy vehicles heading towards Papamoa there will be a short detour along Te Puke Quarry
Road to Manoeka Road. There will be a 30 km/h speed restriction in place at the work site.
Motorists are advised to keep to the posted 30 km/h temporary speed limit. Depending on the time of day, significant
delays are expected and motorists are advised to either use alternate routes or adjust their travelling times away from
peak periods if possible.
The work will only be postponed if extreme wet weather is encountered.
This road rehabilitation works are being undertaken to strengthen the pavement to take traffic (particularly in areas
where there are heavy loads being transported) for the next 20 years.
The Transport Agency would like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience and thanks them for their patience while
this important work is being undertaken.
