CYCLONE LUSI
Cyclone Lusi may not have lived up to some expectations, but she certainly made her presence felt over Vector’s network.
As predicted, the northern area was worst affected and from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon, there were over 92
incidents recorded, primarily due to trees coming down on lines. Crews, along with Treescape, worked tirelessly to
restore outages throughout the day and night.
The API behind Vector’s outage app took 80,459 hits, bringing the total number of hits to the API since the app launched
to over a million - 1,047,278.

NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 16 March 2014
ELECTRICITY
There were eight car vs. pole accidents across the city last week including incidents in Papakura, Mt Wellington, Te
Papapa, Manurewa, Howick, St Heliers with two in Mt Eden. The accidents caused varying levels of damage to our power
poles.
We were asked to isolate the power for safety reasons when fire broke out at properties in Waiatarua, East Tamaki and Mt
Albert during the week.
GAS
Incidents occurred in Arkles Bay, Otaki, Remuera, Bucklands Beach and Hamilton when contractors struck gas pipes while
undertaking work in those areas. Urgent repairs were made and the area made safe by our crews.
SHORTS
• Vector owns over 17,800 kilometres of overhead and underground lines in the greater Auckland area, and 12,752 of gas
pipe lines, almost half of which supply gas to Auckland.
