Napier Infrastructure In Good Condition
Napier Infrastructure In Good Condition
Napier's
infrastructure is in good condition, says a recently
commissioned report.
The Waugh report provides an independent review and analysis of Napier City Council’s major network assets (wastewater, storm water systems, water systems and roading network).
The report concludes Napier City assets are: “professionally managed in accordance with appropriate practice and Napier is very well positioned to meet any future infrastructure-related growth or renewal challenges.
Mayor Bill Dalton said he welcomed the report.
“The Waugh report proves what we have believed all along – our infrastructure lan is robust and our forward planning entirely appropriate.”
He said he hoped the report would put an end to uniformed comment from people with hidden agendas.
“For too long we have been told that Napier is in a strong financial position only because we have been negligent in providing for future infrastructure needs. This report kicks that nonsense for touch.”
“Napier is in great shape because of the hard work of the staff and the prudent governance of successive councils.”
Napier City Council CEO Wayne Jack said the report would be a key resource for future planning.
“We will be using it going forward as we develop our future asset management and funding plans.”
