Today’s two announcements positive for the City
Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel is delighted by today’s announcement that the Re:START Container Mall is to be relocated.
“The ReStart Mall has continued to give a psychological boast to residents and provide a bright central meeting point for residents and visitors.”
Cr Paul Lonsdale, part of the business group behind the container mall says, “I’m thrilled that the mall has found a new central location. The mall has received significant international interest and I’m sure will remain popular with locals and tourists alike.”
The Mayor sees today’s launch of the preliminary designs for the Bus Interchange as a step forward for the City.
“The Bus Interchange will be a focal point in the rebuild of the central city and will be one of the first anchor projects to be delivered.”
Environmental Committee Chair, Cr Phil Clearwater says the Bus Interchange is a vital element in the public transport system being developed for the city.
“The Bus Interchange is pivotal to public transport. We are committed to this facility which will encourage the use of public transport in the city.”
The Bus Interchange supports the Council’s Transport Strategic Plan and is collaboration between the Council, CERA, NZTA and Environment Canterbury.
