Botanic Garden HortTalks Take a Leaf Out of Library’s Books

Botanic Garden HortTalks Take a Leaf Out of Library’s Books

Dunedin (Wednesday, 5 March) – The Botanic Garden’s new series of HortTalks, starting on Friday 7 March, will now be supported by a selection of books supplied by the Dunedin Public Libraries.

HortTalks offer practical know-how and the latest science on a broad range of topics linked by the common theme of nature. The speakers will now be supported by a showcase of the Dunedin Libraries’ collection featuring new books relevant to the HortTalk topic and a subject specialist from the Library who will be able to answer questions about the Libraries’ collection.

The talks have moved to a new location at the Information Centre in the Lower Botanic Garden.

The Dunedin Public Libraries staff believe this a great opportunity to make some of the beautiful and topical books from their shelves readily accessible to the enthusiastic folk who go to HortTalks.

This Friday’s HortTalk is by Dunedin landscaper Wayne Butson, and there will be plenty of books about garden design to complement the session.

Library card holders attending the talks can borrow the books for up to four weeks on production of their Library card or photo ID.

HortTalks are presented in collaboration with the Otago Polytechnic.
