New Zealand Order of Merit - Mr Wenceslaus Anthony

A function to honour Mr Wenceslaus Anthony on his selection for the New Zealand Order of Merit for furthering New Zealand–Trade Relations was held at the Te Whau hall of St Mary’s Church, Avondale on Sunday 23 February. This was the first time that the Order of Merit was given in this category, and that it was awarded to a new migrant to New Zealand made it special.
Over a hundred and fifty people attended. Some of the distinguished speakers were Margaret Owens of the Catholic Caring Foundation, Qaiser Rashid, Dean of the International College of Auckland, Navin Upreti, Managing Director, Bank of Baroda New Zealand and Steve D’Souza, Managing Director-Kalamazoo Group. They explained what Mr Anthony had done for various organizations. Other speakers were Joe James, Leader of the Indian Community of St Mary's Church, Kaylene Rose a long-standing parishioner and Shane D'Silva, Representative of the Youth. Messages were read from Prime Minister John Key, the Leader of the Opposition David Cunliff, Bishop Patrick Dunn and others.
